Srila Prabhupada said:
So you have to fight. Krsna never said, 'Arjuna, oh, you are My devotee, you sit down and sleep, I shall take care of . . . ' He never said that. So if you take that position -- we are devotees, non violent, and let us sleep .. . . Fight! With all the resources that we have got. That is wanted.
So prepare for fight. Don't be afraid. Arjuna, they were five brothers and the other party, one hundred brothers. Therefore Dhrtarastra was confident that 'What are these five brothers without any help? We have ruined them. They were in the forest for thirteen years. Lost all connection, no kingdom. I have got government in hand, and my hundred sons, and we are well equipped.'
You must come forward to fight. If you simply sit down in Vrndavana, then Caitanya Mahaprabhu's mission is not being carried. He says, prthivite ache yata nagaradi grama. [CB Antya-khanda 4.126] That is His mission. I am a teeny person; single handed we shall fight? Why you should see the fun and do not fight? That I am asking you. I shall fight and you shall see the fun?
Come with me to fight, because there is a world fight now.
It is a serious situation; you should not see simply the fun and claim to belong to Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Now you should come out to fight. Am I wrong or right?
Now we should combine together and fight. As soon as you introduce something strong, there will be fight. There will be fight. Even Krsna had to see the fight, Kuruksetra. Dharmaksetre kuruksetre samaveta yuyutsavah [Bg. 1.1]. The fight must be there, yuyutsavah. So if you belong to Caitanya Mahaprabhu's party, then you should come out to fight. Whatever's done is done, and it is done single handed. Nobody has helped me. Even not my Godbrothers. These American boys, they have helped me. They understood the philosophy and they helped me.
Now you should come forward, all combine together. There is a great fight. We are just planning how to fight. Now when there is fight, it requires real strength. Now their fight is confronting us because they are feeling the strength. Their whole civilization is threatened. We are recommending no illicit sex, no intoxication, no gambling, and no meat eating. This is the basic principle of modern civilization. So the foundation is threatened. Theoretically they are taking that 'If these four things are stopped, then
where is our civilization?' The millions of liquor manufacturers, breweries, millions of gambling houses, cigarette factories, so theoretically if this movement is successful, then whole civilization is finished. Because these young men have taken seriously, so they are threatened and they are making a strong party to fight with us."
We should gather our strength. Fight. Krsna never said that 'Don't fight.' Never said to Arjuna that 'You are My devotee; you don't fight. You are very good gentleman, nonviolent, and I shall do everything for you.' Never said that. He said, 'Now there is a great dangerous fight. Why you are saying like a nonsense?' anarya justam, like non Aryan. This fight is another good news that they are feeling the strength.
Fight! Without fight, where is life? If there is no fighting, then what is that life? That is dead stone. Fight must be there. Krsna's whole life is fighting from the very birth. His father carried Him to Gokula and He fell down in the Yamuna and . . . Just born, the fighting began. Just born. And at Yasodamayi's house, Nanda Maharaja's house, so many demons daily coming -- Sakatasura, Aghasura, Bakasura, Putana, so on, so on, so on. Ultimately Kamsa, when He was young boy. Vrndavana, so many asuras came. You have seen the pictures? Krsna is fighting with the horse demon, with the bull, fighting. If Krsna is fighting, why not Krsna consciousness the same thing? You cannot expect peaceful life. No, there must be fighting; then think, 'That is Krsna's presence, His fight.' So this fighting means they're feeling the presence of Krsna consciousness movement. Otherwise why they're making fight? Had it been an insignificant thing, there was no question of fighting."

Prabhupada talked a lot on his walk, especially focusing on the topic of the gurukula. He told Giriraja, the temple president, that a large gurukula should be constructed on our land here in Bombay. He said that twice a day the boys can come to the beach and sport and swim. In this way they will grow healthy, get a good education, and become men of good character. They will learn to control their senses, and this will save them from becoming "nonsense."
Prabhupada said there are many wealthy persons in Bombay who would want to put their children in such a school, because they are not concerned whether their children become expert technologists or not. When you have wealth, you can hire others to do such work.
He told of a man he knew in Allahabad who was a Ph.D., yet he could not get a job. The man was manufacturing soap bars at home and going by cycle every day to sell them in the market. Although he had a Ph.D., he was living like a coolie.
Prabhupada emphasized that therefore one should not make much endeavor for economic advancement, because whatever one is due, either success or failure, is already decided. Getting a Ph.D. will not change that. One should simply try to become Krsna conscious. He mentioned that Mr. Modi, the founder of Modinagar, where we recently had our program, was not an educated
man, but he had fifty thousand people working for him.

Service for Krsna should not be accepted as profession for livelihood. It should be simply for the service of the Lord. For the service of the Lord you can collect millions of dollars, but for your livelihood you cannot take one dollar from any person. Then you'll be indebted. You have to repay him. You cannot cheat others. It is very strictly enjoined.

Banabatta Dasa was temple commander in Mayapur during the 1976 GBC meetings. One day he went to Srila Prabhupada's room and complained to him that hardly any of the GBC members attended any part of the morning or evening temple programs except when Srila Prabhupada was present, namely at deity greeting, guru-puja, and Srimad-Bhagavatam class. Srila Prabhupada thanked Banabatta Prabhu. Next morning all the GBC men were in mangala-arati. Srila Prabhupada had ordered that the GBC meetings finish at a fixed time and that all GBC members attend the whole morning and evening program.

Don't manufacture duty. Duty is already there. Take it up and be happy. We are doing that. How we say, "Here is duty"? We may be not very much learned, but we take the simple thing, that's all. Our duty is to carry out the order of Krsna. Caitanya Mahaprabhu confirmed it, my Guru Maharaja confirmed it, we accept it. Why should we be unnecessarily very learned man? Eh? There is a Bengali proverb, uthi chala kel balai derhi[?]: "If one is too much intelligent, he should be hanged." [laughter] [laughs] Over-intelligent. Krsna may give me the good intelligence that whatever I have been able to do or what I am going to, let me be fixed up in my faith in Krsna, that's all. I don't want anything. Why shall I create my duty? Duty is already there.

Harikesa: What happens with all these people who, like for example, myself, I can't live on a farm?
Prabhupada: That does not make you unfit. You can do something like that.
Harikesa: I was born in a city, raised in a city, and feel very good when I'm in a city, but when I'm on a farm, I'm very disturbed.
Prabhupada: Rajasika, you have got rajasika. So that means your mode of nature is rajasika. There are three kinds of-sattvika, rajasika, tamasika.
Harikesa: But what are we going to do with all these kind of people?
Prabhupada: That is already there, three kinds of propensities. Sattvika, rajasika, tamasika. So you belong to the rajasika, that's all. So it can be conquered by sattvika.
Hari-sauri: So we should all aim towards leaving the cities. If everyone becomes sattvika...
Prabhupada: That tendency is there, why these bungalows are here? They do not like to live in the city. They are paying so high rent. Why? The inner tendency is to live like this, with trees, with lawn.

(From Mukunda Goswami's Vyasa-puja offering, 2000)
"We cannot make this institution or this center as a brothel!" That's how you ended your lecture at the Manor one Sunday morning in August, 1973. I'd been sitting erect on the temple floor, eyes closed, brows knit, affecting my best pseudo-yogi listening posture. But I was sound asleep. How I managed to stay upright remains one of the great unsolved mysteries of my life.
It had been a late night. That wake-up call was the end of your lecture. It was over! But wait a minute! I thought you were speaking on Srimad-Bhagavatam. How did that sentence creep in? Devotees were bowing down, and you stood up and headed toward the temple room door. You were climbing the stairs to your rooms.
I thought back to the evening before. What had happened that night probably infuriated the neighbors against us more than anything else. There was the stage, with its 250-watt amplifiers, huge speakers, and blasting rock music in the tiny village of Letchmore Heath -- Letchmore Heath, population 250, the coveted bucolic hideaway where frog-and-cricket choruses can keep you awake at night.
During our "environmentally unfriendly" promotional event, guests puffed on reefers, and some couples walked arm-in-arm, occasionally stealing into the bushes. Apparently none of this had escaped your watchful eye. From the vantage point of your second-story quarters, you had scanned the grounds, clearly observing the evening's happenings under an English summer sun that didn't set until 9.30 p.m.
Your startling statement the morning after, about the temple becoming a brothel, brought our miscalculation into sharp focus. We'd gone way too far along the track of yukta-vairagya, or engaging matter in the service of spirit.

Not only in the present age but from time immemorial, no one has liked an old man who is unable to earn in the family. Even in the modern age, in some communities or states, the old men are given poison so that they will die as soon as possible. In some cannibalistic communities, the old grandfather is sportingly killed, and a feast is held in which his body is eaten. The example is given that a farmer does not like an old bull who has ceased to work. Similarly, when an attached person in family life becomes old and is unable to earn, he is no longer liked by his wife, sons, daughters and other kinsmen, and he is consequently neglected, what to speak of not being given respect. It is judicious, therefore, to give up family attachment before one attains old age and take shelter of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. One should employ himself in the Lord's service so that the Supreme Lord can take charge of him, and he will not be neglected by his so-called kinsmen.

H.H. Tamal Krsna Dasa Goswami related that in the early days of ISKCON Los Angeles he was the temple commander and Madhudvisa Prabhu was the treasurer. On weekdays Madhudvisa Prabhu would collect from the devotees the income from sankirtan, but at the weekend, when money was needed for the Sunday festival, he was not to be found. When Tamal Krsna complained about this to Srila Prabhupada, Srila Prabhupada commented, "He is a first-class treasurer. The first qualification of a treasurer is that he does not like to spend money."

In the conditioned state the living being is not satisfied even if he actually becomes the lord of all that he surveys, which he never becomes, and therefore he becomes the victim of all kinds of cheating, even with his nearest and most intimate relations. In such an unsatisfactory state of affairs, there is no harmony, even between father and sons or between husband and wife. But all these contending difficulties can be mitigated by one process, and that is the devotional service of the Lord. The world of
hypocrisy can be checked only by counteraction through devotional service to the Lord and nothing else.

Radhavallabha: In one BTG article, you described increase in women population as a natural disaster.
Radhavallabha: So when one woman read this article, she became very angry. She came back and was very angry.
Prabhupada: She may be angry. She is woman and man. Actually this is physiological. If a man is too much addicted to sex life, he'll become impotent, and if he begets child, it will be a girl. With no potency to give birth to a male child.... That requires potency.
Hamsaduta: When we were going around in London making life members, I noticed that in so many families, all the children are girls.
Prabhupada: Yes. The whole world is full of girls, girl children. Why? There is no potency. Potency finished. Or impotent. And if you keep one boy brahmacari, no sex life, and get him married, the first child must be a boy, must be, without any doubt.
Lokanatha: That means, then, woman is more potent than...
Prabhupada: Yes, yes. Yes. The Ayur-vedic formula is that when there is discharge, woman's discharge, more, means girl, and man's discharge, more, means boy. This is physiological.
Ramesvara: The women argue that they are stronger than the men.
Prabhupada: Yes. You are stronger than the man, that when there is fight, the man goes; you do not go. You are so strong. You are simply ravished in the absence of your husband. That's all.
Ramesvara: Now.... The women are joining the Army in America now.
Prabhupada: Yes, I have seen a police in London. So I told that "If I catch your hand and give you a slap, where is your police?" [laughter] "I am old man. If I catch your hand and give you a slap, what police action will be there?"

Hansaduta Dasa recalls:
Early on when we were still debating how to address the female devotees, Prabhupada cleared the way by saying that we are to address all women, regardless of how young or old as "mother," either they are actually mothers or they are potential mothers. We originally used to call them sisters, then we tried gopis, but the matter was solved by Prabhupada: "They are all mothers." He often quoted the verse regarding the seven mothers.

I poured the milk liquids onto the head of Radharani, while Prabhupada chanted the Brahma-samhita. As I poured I moved the liquids so that they flowed over Her shoulders and other parts of Her body, Her legs and feet. From the vyasasana, which was somewhat distant from me, Prabhupada said, "The head, Her head." I did not hear him at first and kept pouring on the different parts of Her body. Then I finally heard him shouting, "The head! Only the head!"

You have got a very big responsibility to give your daughters a good Krishna conscious atmosphere for developing into nice devotees. If you also take up these sinful activities and neglect the principles of Krishna Consciousness, then that is a great misfortune. Your first consideration must be to see that your children become Krishna conscious, and if your husband will not
take his responsibility, then what can be done? Simply you must keep to the principles, and pray to Krishna to help you.

If Krsna wants, the devotee can do anything which is ordinarily undesirable;
and if Krsna does not want, he shall not do that which he would have ordinarily done for his own satisfaction.
From Bg 2.64 ppt.
As described in The Nectar of Devotion:
Pradyumna's attachment for Krsna was always exhibited by his action. Whenever he was ordered by his father to execute something, he would immediately execute the order, taking the task as nectarean even though it may have been poison. Similarly, whenever he would find something to be disapproved of by his father, he would immediately reject it as poison, even though it may have been nectarean.

Arjuna, by the grace of Lord Sri Krsna, was able to reach the heavenly planet even with the selfsame body and was honored by the heavenly demigod Indradeva, being seated with him half-elevated. One can reach the heavenly planets by the pious acts recommended in the sastras in the category of fruitive activities. And as stated in the Bhagavad-gita (9.21), when the reactions of such pious acts are spent, the enjoyer is again degraded to this earthly planet. The moon is also on the level with the heavenly planets, and only persons who have performed virtues only -- performing sacrifices, giving charity and undergoing severe austerities -- can be allowed to enter into the heavenly planets after the duration of life of the body. Arjuna was allowed to enter into the heavenly planets in the selfsame body simply by the grace of the Lord, otherwise it is not possible to do so.
The present attempts to enter into the heavenly planets by the modern scientists will certainly prove futile because such scientists are not on the level of Arjuna. They are ordinary human beings, without any assets of sacrifice, charity or austerities. The material body is influenced by the three modes of material nature, namely goodness, passion and ignorance. The present population is more or less influenced by the modes of passion and ignorance, and the symptoms for such influence are exhibited in their becoming very lusty and greedy. Such degraded fellows can hardly approach the higher planetary systems. Above the heavenly planets there are many other planets also, which only those who are influenced by goodness can reach. In heavenly and other planets within the universe, the inhabitants are all highly intelligent, many more times than the human beings, and they
are all pious in the higher and highest mode of goodness. They are all devotees of the Lord, and although their goodness is not unadulterated, still they are known as demigods possessing the maximum amount of good qualities possible within the material world.

Only fools are ungrateful to their benefactors. The Lord, however, does not require benefit from anyone besides Himself because He is full in Himself; still He feels benefited by the unalloyed services of His devotees. The Lord feels grateful to His devotees for such unsophisticated, unconditional service and tries to reciprocate it by rendering service, although the devotee also has no such desire in his heart. The transcendental service of the Lord is itself a transcendental benefit for the devotee, and therefore
the devotee has nothing to expect from the Lord.

There may sometimes be arguments about whether "truth" and "beauty" are compatible terms. One would willingly agree to express the truth, one might say, but since truth is not always beautiful -- indeed, it is frequently rather startling and unpleasant -- how is one to express truth and beauty at the same time?
In reply, we may inform all concerned that "truth" and "beauty" are compatible terms. Indeed, we may emphatically assert that the actual truth, which is absolute, is always beautiful. The truth is so beautiful that it attracts everyone, including the truth itself. Truth is so beautiful that many sages, saints, and devotees have left everything for the sake of truth. Every one of us has the urge to search for truth alone, for the truth is not only beautiful but also all-powerful, all-resourceful, all-famous, all-renounced, and all-knowledgeable.
Unfortunately, people have no information of the actual truth. Indeed, 99.9 percent of men in all walks of life are pursuing untruth only, in the name of truth. We are actually attracted by the beauty of truth, but since time immemorial we have been habituated to love of untruth appearing like truth. Therefore, to the mundaner "truth" and "beauty" are incompatible terms.

I am very much pleased to know that you are trying to set a fine example to your young son, Joseph, and your good wife. It is the duty of our students who are married men to train both their wife and children in devotional service to the Supreme Lord. The easiest program is that you add to your daily schedule a Kirtana chanting of Hare Krsna Maha-mantra both in the evening and the morning with your family and after chanting you can read something from our Bhagavad Gita As It Is or Krsna Book or our other
literatures. You are already offering service to Lord Jagannatha and offering Him some nicely prepared fruits, milk, sweet smelling flowers and incense. That is the way for householders. For householders it is prescribed that one should hear the Bhagavad-gita or other transcendental texts of which we now have ample supply from the lips of the devotee of the Lord, one should accept a Bona fide Spiritual Master and follow his instructions and one should install the Deity in his home and carry on worship there. These three items will make your life perfect. So you simply try to observe these things and if you need some advice how to do it you can ask the elder devotees of our New York Temple. Be very strict in your observance of the four principles of regulation, namely no illicit sex life, no intoxicants, no eating of any meat, fish or eggs, and no gambling. Always chant Hare Krsna at least sixteen rounds daily and be happy.

Pravrtti means sense enjoyment. And nivrtti means self-negation. So when we say that "You shall not have illicit sex," and their inclination is illicit sex, so therefore it is revolutionary. They are materialistic persons. They want sex enjoyment to the best capacity -- homosex, this sex, that sex, naked dance, all sexually inclined, pravrtti.
And we say, "Stop this," nivrtti. They do not like it because asura. Pravrtti jagat. They do not know this is essential. They do not know it. This is essential. Tapasa brahmacaryena [SB 6.1.13]. Tapasya means brahmacarya.
The so-called swamis, they are coming for this so-called yoga practice but they are themself victim of sex. This is going on. Actually, it is a bluff -- they have become swami and teaching some yoga system -- because they do not know that one has to stop this first of all. Brahmacaryena. So this bluffing is going on all over the world, and we are speaking just against them. Murkhayopadeso hi prakopaya na santaye. If you give instruction to the rascals, he will simply be angry. He will not take advantage of it. This is our position.
All the so-called professors, philosophers, they are all in the pravrtti-marga. Therefore they are bringing somebody, "Our interpretation is like this." Pravrtti-marga. Because if they can find out some support from the sastra, then they think, "We are secure." This is going on.
Pravrttim ca nivrttim jana na vidur asurah. The whole world is full of asuras, descendant of Hiranyakasipu, and it is very difficult. But if we give them chance to chant Hare Krsna mantra, gradually they will understand. Our difficulty: the so-called swamis, priests, popes, they are also in the pravrtti-marga. All these, priests, and they have illicit sex. Pravrtti-marga.
So they are passing, "Yes, you can have homosex with man." They are getting man-to-man marriage. They are performing the marriage ceremony between man to man in the open church. What class of men they are? And they are priest. Just see. Such degraded persons, drinking... They have got hospital for curing their drinking disease. Five thousand patients in a hospital in
America, all drunkards, and they are priest. Just see. Simply by dressing long cloak and cross, they have become. In India also, simply having a thread, a brahmana. Two-paisa thread. And by simply one danda, one is sannyasi.

Krsna as the source of love Himself is Caitanya. The two aspects of the Divine Personality are not complimentary but are identical. Sri Krsna is eternally served by the denizens of Vraja. Krsna is thus served in a visible form in the Dvapara Age in this world. Sri Krsna is also served in a visible form in Kali-yuga. He is served as Sri Caitanya by the denizens of Navadvipa which is identical with the white island [Svetadvipa] of the scriptures. The servants and associates of Sri Krsna Caitanya are identical with those of Sri Krsna. The service of Sri Krsna Caitanya alone is attainable in the Kali age. Those who aspire for the service of Krsna in this age have no other alternative but to serve Sri Krsna Caitanya.

In material consciousness we are trying to love that which is not at all lovable. We give our love to dogs and cats, running the risk that at the time of death we may think of them and consequently take birth in a family of cats or dogs. Thus love that does not have Krsna as its object leads downward. It is not that Krsna or God is something obscure or something that only a few chosen people can attain. Caitanya Mahaprabhu informs us that in every country and in every scripture there is some hint of love of Godhead. Unfortunately no one knows what love of Godhead actually is. The Vedic scriptures, however, are different in that they can direct the individual in the proper way to love God. Other scriptures do not give information on how one can love God, nor do they actually define or describe what or who the Godhead actually is. Although they officially promote love of Godhead, they have no idea how to execute it. But Caitanya Mahaprabhu gives a practical demonstration of how to love God in a conjugal relationship. Taking the part of Radharani, Caitanya tries to love Krsna as Radharani loved Him. Krsna was always amazed by Radharani's love. "How does Radharani give Me such pleasure?" He would ask. In order to study Radharani, Krsna lived in Her role and tried to understand Himself. This is the secret of Lord Caitanya's incarnation. Caitanya is Krsna, but He has taken the mode or role of Radharani to show us how to love Krsna. Thus He is addressed: "I offer my respectful obeisances unto the Supreme Lord who is absorbed in Radharani's thoughts."

Lord Caitanya is Lord Krsna. His body is always decorated with ornaments of sandalwood and with sandalwood paste. By His superexcellent beauty He subdues all the people of the age. In other descents the Lord sometimes used weapons to defeat the demoniac, but in this age the Lord subdues them with His all-attractive figure as Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Srila Jiva Gosvami
explains that His beauty is His astra, or weapon, to subdue the demons. Because He is all-attractive, it is to be understood that all the demigods lived with Him as His companions. His acts were uncommon and His associates wonderful. When He propagated the sankirtana movement, He attracted many great scholars and acaryas, especially in Bengal and Orissa. Lord Caitanya is always accompanied by His best associates like Lord Nityananda, Advaita, Gadadhara and Srivasa.

That is the process of Caitanya Mahaprabhu's bhajana: feeling of separation, vipralambha, vipralambha-seva. Just like Caitanya Mahaprabhu, feeling the separation of Krsna, He was falling down on the sea. He was coming out of His rest room or His bedroom and going out at dead of night. Nobody knew where He has gone. So that was His searching. This process of devotional service is taught by Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Not that very easily, "We have seen Krsna or seen Radharani in rasa-lila." No, not like that. Feel the separation. The more you feel separation from Krsna, you should understand that you are advancing. Don't try to see Krsna artificially. Be advanced in separation feeling, and then it will be perfect. That is the teachings of Lord Caitanya. Because with our material eyes we cannot see Krsna. Atah sri-krsna-namadi na bhaved grahyam indriyaih [Cc. Madhya 17.136]. With our material senses we cannot see Krsna, we cannot hear about Krsna's name. But sevonmukhe hi jihvadau. When you engage yourself in the service of the Lord... Where the service begins? Jihvadau. The service begins from the tongue. Not from the legs, eyes, or ears. It begins from the tongue. Sevonmukhe hi jihvadau. If you begin service through your tongue... How? Chant Hare Krsna. Use your tongue. Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. And take Krsna prasadam. The tongue has got two business: to articulate sound, Hare Krsna; and take prasadam. By this process you'll realize Krsna.

Acyutananda: In Calcutta we have a life member, Veni Sankara Sharma? You stayed at his house?
Prabhupada: Hm, yes.
Acyutananda: So he wrote a book called An Unknown Chapter of the Life of Swami Vivekananda. And in there he openly says that he smoked a hookah and ate meat.
Prabhupada: Yes, that is known to everyone.
Tamala Krsna: Was he praising that?
Acyutananda: It was.... You know...
Yasodanandana: In Hyderabad there is a cook who used to cook for the Ramakrishna Mission, and he said they used to cook any kind of meat.
Acyutananda: I said, "Did you ever cook human meat?" He said, "If they told me, I would have done that also." There was nothing beyond their diet. "Anything they told me to cook..."

To know simply "I believe in God," that is not sufficient. The ultimate goal is to attain very intimate relationship or love of Godhead. That is required. Of course, to know, to believe in God, to accept God, that is all right. It is better than the atheist. But that is not end. You must develop yourself. You must... You should not simply make God as your order-supplier, but you should be order-supplier. When I become order-supplier to God, that is my perfection. And so long I keep God as my order-supplier, that is not bhakti. Generally, people keep God as his order-supplier: "O God, give us our daily bread," "O God, I am in distress, "O God, I am in difficulty, "O God, I am..." God supplies them. God is supplying. Eko bahunam vidadhati kaman. But that is not ultimate goal. The ultimate goal is that you should supply God. God will be dependent on you. That is bhakti.

Persons who hear from a spiritual master with great labor and for a long time must hear from the mouths of pure devotees about the character and activities of pure devotees. Pure devotees always think within their hearts of the lotus feet of the Personality of Godhead, who awards His devotees liberation.
Transcendental students are those who undergo great penance in being trained by hearing the Vedas from a bona fide spiritual master. Not only must they hear about the activities of the Lord, but they must also hear about the transcendental qualities of the devotees who are constantly thinking of the lotus feet of the Lord within their hearts. A pure devotee of the Lord cannot be separated from the lotus feet of the Lord for even a moment. Undoubtedly the Lord is always within the hearts of all living creatures, but they hardly know about it because they are deluded by the illusory material energy. The devotees, however, realize the presence of the Lord, and therefore they can always see the lotus feet of the Lord within their hearts. Such pure devotees of the Lord are as glorious as the Lord; they are, in fact, recommended by the Lord as more worshipable than He Himself. Worship of the devotee is more potent than worship of the Lord. It is therefore the duty of the transcendental students to hear of pure devotees, as explained by similar devotees of the Lord, because one cannot explain about the Lord or His devotee unless one happens to be a pure devotee himself.

...our Karttikeya was telling that the boys, the young boys and girls put forward this theory that "Our parents have made the position of the world so unsafe. So we do not know when we shall, our this body will be finished. So better to enjoy this bodily sense gratification as far as possible quickly." See this nonsense. More or less, the modern civilization is in darkness. That is the treatment of Srimad-Bhagavatam. Lokasyajanata. All the people of the world, they are rascals and fools.

Prabhupada: Baddha-jiva, every moment he is under the strict laws of nature. Generally they think that.... They speak also. "I think." Do they not say? "I think," as if he is independently thinking. What you can think? Hm? Acyutananda Maharaja, why do they say, "I think," "In my opinion"? What is the value of your opinion?
Harikesa: Well, I have a certain amount of experience, and with my intelligence and my mind and my scientific method, I can put all that together and come out with some practical solution which I can work on.
Prabhupada: That you cannot, because you are not independent. Uru-damni baddhah. If you are tied hands and legs with strong rope, how you can think of "I shall become free in this way. I shall become free...?" But your hands and legs are tied up, so why do you think foolishly that you shall become free in this way, you shall become free this way? First of all open this, the tightening knot; then you plan that "I shall become..." But there is no such chance. So what is the value of your thinking like that?
Harikesa: Well, relatively speaking, it's better to do...
Prabhupada: That is another foolishness. Because you are so rascal, you do not know that "I cannot move even an inch and I am making plan." That is the proof that you are a rascal.

Our relationship is eternal. But if somebody lags behind, so in spite of our eternal relationship one may not meet other at the destination. Just like a flock of birds -- although very intimately related, everyone of them has to fly in the sky by individual strength. If one is less strong, the other cannot keep him in the sky. That is the law of nature. So long everyone of us is strong in Krishna Consciousness, there is no doubt, you can fly in the spiritual sky and meet together without failure. Therefore, individual strength is most important. And that individual strength is achieved in the association of devotees also. So you can make your own judgment.
