Srila Prabhupada demonstrates (in)gratitude

You [Srila Prabhupada] taught that gratitude is an essential factor in
personalism. Without it, life is not worth living. You showed this to your
disciple Bhavananda Maharaja as he helped you across the drainage ditch
embankment in Mayapur. After he’d helped you reach the top, you threw his
hand away, then took one step, turned, and explained that this is how the
impersonalists treat the guru: they reject the one who has given them
everything, thinking they have become God and no longer need him.
