by Radhananda Dasa on September 8, 2009

By Madhava Das (BVKS) and Bhakta Nirav Gajjar

A three day Sridham Nathdwara yatra was conducted on 4th, 5th and 6th of
September 2009 by BVKS yatra committee. ISKCON devotees from all over the
world (Kuwait, Dubai, US, UK, China, Russia and India) had gathered in the
Laxmi Palace in Nathdwara, Rajasthan for this yatra. The yatra was lead by
the ISKCON Maharaj, His Holiness Bhakti Vikas Swami Maharaj with around 500
devotees attending the program.

The activities for the three days yatra comprised of darshan of Shrinathaji,
standard ISKCON morning program, hearing and chanting the holy name of the
Lord, nagar sankirtan and book distribution. During the yatra the devotees
had distributed books worth Rs. 30,000. It was observed that the residents
of Nathdwara who had bought the ISKCON books were keenly reading the books.

On 5th September, main priest of Shrinathji temple, Shri Narahariji, came to
meet Bhakti Vikas Swami Maharaj. Shri Narhariji has undergone bypass heart
surgery and the doctors have strictly advised him not to speak much. Inspite
of this restriction Shri Narahariji came to meet Bhakti Vikas Swami Maharaj
with full enthusiasm and also delivered a short lecture glorifying His
Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada and ISKCON movement. One of the associates who
had accompanied Shri Narahariji was very much inspired by the yatra program
and commented that ISKCON should every year conduct such yatra and should
also open up an ISKCON temple in Nathdwara.

On 6th September there was an article in Dainik Navjyoti newspaper about
ISKCON’s Nathdwara yatra, lecture delivered by Bhakti Vikas Maharaj on
Bhagavad Gita and meeting of Bhakti Vikas Maharaj with Sri Narahariji on 5th
September.

Bhakti Vikas Maharaj was very much pleased with the service provided to Shri
Nathaji by Shri Narahariji and his associates. Maharaj especially
appreciated the Shringhar of Shri Nathaji that is being performed eight
times a day and also the aristocratic prasad such as king size sweets
prepared for Shri Nathaji.

On 4th and 5th September there was nagar sankirtan performed in the streets
of Nathdwara in and around the Shrinathji temple.

On 6th September evening the yatra continued in Udaipur, Rajasthan with
nagar sankirtan in the streets in and around the Agrawal hall. Following the
nagar sankirtan was lecture delivered by Bhakti Vikas Swami Maharaj and His
Grace Basu Ghosh Prabhu (temple president of ISKCON Baroda).

Overall the Nathdwara yatra received very much appreciation from the
residents of the Nathdwara.
