Meaning of Worshiping Lotus Feet of a Pure Devotee

Question:

  1. What does it actually mean by worshiping lotus feet of a pure devotee or Lord Himself.
  2. Whom should we worship: our acharyas lotus feet (Rupa Goswami and Jiva Goswami Prabhupada) or Radha Krishna's lotus feet (which are rarely attained).

Answer 1 by HH Bhakti Vikasa Swami:

That’s the first question. Yeah, we speak of worshiping the feet of a devotee or of the Lord. That means we approach him with complete humility. The foot is the lowest part of the body, so we think that our… We bow down at the feet, which means that we think our highest part is lower than the lowest part of the person being worshiped. So, it’s an expression of humility. And devotees, they generally look at the feet of the Lord. They don’t feel themselves qualified to go higher, or to have a very familial relationship, so they describe the beauty of the feet of the Lord.

Answer 2 by HH Bhakti Vikasa Swami:

Well, you say our ācāryas’ lotus feet. What about Śrīla Prabhupāda? Why jump up all the way up to Rūpa Gosvāmī and Jīva Gosvāmī, leaving so many others in between? It’s a holistic process. We worship the ācāryas. By their mercy we attain to Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. If we worship the ācāryas, we follow their instructions, which is to worship Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. So, we worship the ācāryas fully by also worshiping Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa, and we cannot worship Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa bypassing the ācāryas. So, both. It’s not one way or the other, but both. It’s required to worship both.

In Vedic literatures we see an emphasis of judging by the results, palena parichiyate, and this idea is more specifically highlighted in the biblical passage of Luke 6:44, where the first line states "A tree is identified by its fruit" This concept seems to be very deep, yet I do not properly understand it… Could you speak something on how to understand this principle? And how can we actually apply it, sometimes the result or fruit is hard to judge, or this process can give wrong results

This question has been answered by His Grace Gokula Candra Prabhu, a senior disciple of His Holiness Bhakti Vikasa Maharaj upon Maharaj's request.

Following Srila Prabhupada Outside ISKCON

Question:

I have two doubts, I hope you can show some light.

After Srila Prabhupada disappearance, many former ISKCON devotees moves to another branches of the Gaudiya Matha and take shelter in many senior vaisnavas disciples of Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur (actually Srila Prabhupada godbrothers: Srila Sridhara Maharaj, Srila Puri Maharaj, etc.) and many of them even started with success their own missions (Tripurari Maharaj, Narasingha Maharaj, etc.). I want to ask you if it is posible to follow Srila Prabhupada and became a bonafide Prabhupadanuga outside ISKCON or if it´s just a "degree" that someone can attain only being a member of ISKCON?

On the other hand, for the last 30 years Srila Prabhupada godbrothers acknowleged Him as "Saktiavesa Avatara" or "Jagad Guru" and celebrate in their respective maths His abirbhava and tirobhava (Sri Gopinath Matha, Sri Caitanya Saraswat Matha, Sri Caitanya Gaudiya Matha, etc). Furthermore Srila Jayapataka Swami started Sarasvasta Gaudiya Vaisnava Association and Srila Paramadvaiti (aka Alanath Swami) World Vaisnava Association as well, to reunite all the branches of the "Bhaktisidhanta Parampara". So, how it is that even today it seems to be so difficult to many ISKCON leaders to accept "as bonafide as ISKCON" any other branch of the Gaudiya Matha in the light that all of them came from the same seed (Srila Bhaktisiddhanta) and in opposition they point Srila Prabhupada (or ISKCON gurus) as the only bonafide acaryas for humankind? Can you please Maharaj help me to understand this in a propper way and mood?
