Can Devotees Worship Ganesa?

August 30, 2016 |

Question: One should begin the worship of the demigod Ganapati, who drives away all impediments in the execution of devotional service. In the Brahma-samhita it is stated that Ganapati worships the lotus feet of Lord Nrsimha-deva and in that way has become auspicious for the devotees in clearing out all impediments. Therefore, all devotees should worship Ganapati. Thus my neighbours placed Ganesha next to Nrsimhadeva on the altar. Other devotees cite Srila Prabhupada letters in which he says that there's no need to worship Ganesha. So what is the proper understanding?… Expand>

Question:

I saw a murti of Ganesh on the altar next to Nrsimhadeva at a neighbours' place. There was an argument between devotees. Some say that in Srila Prabhupada's Nectar of Devotion it is said in Chapter 8, One should begin the worship of the demigod Ganapati, who drives away all impediments in the execution of devotional service. In the Brahma-samhita it is stated that Ganapati worships the lotus feet of Lord Nrsimha-deva and in that way has become auspicious for the devotees in clearing out all impediments. How Do We Know That Guru Has a Seed?

November 19, 2011 |

Question: The greatest gift a spiritual master can give is the seed of devotional service. How do we know if the guru (spiritual master) actually has the seed to give out? This question has been answered by His Grace Gokulacandra Prabhu, a senior disciple of His Holiness Bhakti Vikasa Maharaj upon Maharaj's request.

Question:

I am listening to one of your lecture and an inquiry is made about chanting rounds or the Holy Name etc. for others.

In the Gita mahatmya there is one section where a bull is dying and all the people come and promise to give some of their accrued punya to the bull including a prostitute - she did it because she didn't want be the one who didn't because she thought she had no punya to give. But because the blessing from the prostitute alone the bull was born as a high brahmana and traced her out to find out what was her punya etc. She confessed that she was a prostitute and actually had no punya. But after some thought it was revealed that she had some parrots who used to belong to someone who chanted a specific chapter of the Gita daily and she used to listen to that and for this reason she had punya etc. So it seems that one can gift one's own punya to others. How would you explain this?
