Question:

Why is it that the cultural convention is for men to renounce and women to marry but the cultural code that it is best to renounce?

I would like to know which section of our society repels the renunciation of women in your opinion and why. Is it that the grhasta men want to keep their enjoyment guaranteed in convention?

I personally don't see how marrying can benefit anyone in this world but simply create more attachment to bags of bone and flesh. should we not be satisfying each other’s solitude in brahmacarya?

Question: How can we understand that Srila Prabhupada said that Ramacharita Manasa should not be printed in ISKCON and yet we find senior devotees giving seminars on the same? NB: In this recording, Maharaj is referring to a lecture on Ramacharita Manasa that he had given previously. You can hear to that lecture here: About Ramacaritamanasa.

Frivolous Recreational Activities

August 16, 2012 |

Question: I heard a lecture today by a current GBC Sannyasi. At the end he mentioned that we have to maintain our body and that he exercised daily to achieve that. He then mentioned that it's necessary for devotees to engage in recreational activities, including sports etc. to keep their body maintained. I was very confused about that instruction, considering Srila Prabhupada mentions many times in his books that devotees should avoid frivolous sports.
