Question:

I am writing to Your Holiness to ask a question about a discussion that I had with a person who knows both ISKCON and eastern paths of philosophy and metaphysics. He was making comparison and criticism. He said for instance that ISKCON temples are a mess, dirty, noisy with lots of fighting amongst devotees and budhist, taoist temples are very clean, organized, quiet, peaceful, sattvic. He said that many ISKCON devotees don’t have basic manners, culture, education, etiquette whereas budhist, taoist, astanga yoga practioners are educated, well mannered people. He also said that these people seems to have much more sense control than the devotees. He said that ISKCON doesn’t have organization, planning, structure, stability whereas these groups are very well organized, structured with years, decades, centuries or more of work and tradition. His point is that you judge something or someone by the results and symptoms, so if the devotees are the topmost transcendentalists and if ISKCON and the Sankirtana movement is the most elevated spiritual movement than there should be example, results and symptoms of such superior position. His reasoning is that these eastern paths and their followers seems to be more advanced, self controlled etc. than the devotees. I know his thinking comes from a neophyte understanding but I want to know what I could say to him. Could Your Holiness, tell me what I can say to him?

Difficulty in Judging Between Nitya and Sadhana Siddha

Question:

How do we really make a distinction between nitya siddha and sadhana siddha jivas?

Despite them being two different by definition obviously, their pastimes on the earth, their qualities and potency, is there any difference, are those things the same?

Could you say, those who are Sadhana Siddha do not exercise/expose as much spiritual potency as Nitya Siddha jivas, or that sadhana siddhas do not have as much extent of spiritual influence?

Generally, Prabhupada has said the previous acharyas (Bhaktisiddhanta, Bhaktivinode) are Nitya Siddha, therefore, is it correct to deduce only those who are acharyas are nitya, and everyone else is sadhana siddha?

Sometimes, with an acharya we know is nitya siddha, Bhaktvinode Thakur for example, it may appear he was formerly materialistic then by Sadhana became Siddha, Prabhupada has stated otherwise so we accept that as the truth, therefore it is difficult to distinguish between the two, as even if they are actually sadhana siddha they have pastimes appearing as if they were worldly.

Question:

Presently I am working in a company and my qualification is Diploma. Now whenever I chant my rounds, in the early morning, my mind speaks to me to study further (material studying-degree) rather than chanting, so that in future it will help my career. Now i am of age 33 and married & I have twin children (of age 6yrs, both boys-Pramod & Pradyumna). Because of this I cannot concentrate on chanting. Please advise which is best for me – either to chant & work for personal care (or) to focus on further material studies and work. Please note my working schedule is hectic and I cannot do all the three things (i.e. to chant 16 rounds, work & study) and working is compulsory as I don’t have any other source of income.
